Cardiology

 

Year of inception

In the early part of 1979, a Cardiology unit was started in Medical Unit 1 under the departmen of Medicine with Asstt. Prof. Dr B Das and registrar Dr R K Kotokey. The ICCU was started in the later part of the same year. In 1980, Dr A K Barooah joined as Associate Professor.

Subsequently, the Cardiology unit was upgraded to the Department of Cardiology on 03-08-1992 with Prof. Dr B Das as Prof & HOD, Dr B K Das as Sssociate Professor, Dr H C Kalita as Asstt Professor.

 

Year of Starting PG Course

Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Cardiology (PGDCC) - a 2 year in-house training programme - under Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was started in 2007
