Paediatrics

Brief note of the department:
  • Year of inception: 1961
  • Year of starting PG course: 1974
  • Student capacity (PG):
    MD (Pediatrics) - 7 per year
    Diploma in Child Health (DCH) - 6 per year.
  • Student statistics till date: A total of 122 students have passed MD and 185 students have passed DCH from the Department till now.
SPECIALIZED SERVICES:
  • Full-fledged Level III Neonatal Unit is functional, details of which are attached.
  • Frequent health camps for outreach children.

 

ANNUAL HOSPITAL STATISTICS:
  • Bed strength: 88 pediatric beds plus 8 newborn beds in the pediatric ward are available.
  • OPD Services:
                  a.   Daily Pediatric OPD on weekdays from 8 am to 2 pm.
                  b.   Special High-risk Neworn Follow up OPD every Thursday from 8 am to 2 pm.
                  c.   Hematology clinic in the offing, to be held every Saturday.
                  d.   Daily Immunization Clinic.
  • Side Laboratory for routine blood, urine and stool examination is functional during the OPD hours.

               

ANY OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION.

In collaboration with state and district chapters of IAP (Indian Academy of Pediatrics), frequent seminars and CMEs are being held.
Faculties regularly participate in training programmes for peripheral health personnel in connection with IMNCI, SBA, Essential and Facility-based Newborn Care etc.
